Matthew Cronin

Recognising the online opportunity at its infancy Matt made the transition from traditional advertising to interactive marketing to help bridge the gap between offline and online mindsets. A move made more challenging by the stumbling economy and scepticism following the dot com bust. Through the hard times Matt pioneered the use of the Internet as a cost effective sales and distribution channel, a branding medium and a source of consumer research leading clients to greater business success with wider adoption and more effective integration of Internet marketing. Along the way his work has been recognized by Business2.0, The Association of Travel Marketing Executives, he has been a frequent featured speaker at online marketing leadership forums and quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. Matt is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Suffolk University Boston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communications.

Alain Portmann

A graduate in both traditional advertising and direct marketing, Alain became involved in online marketing at its inception. Before becoming a co-founder of Web Liquid, Alain was Media Director at AGENCY.com London, managing the online media budgets for British Airways and other European brands. Throughout his tenure the agency was responsible for a multitude of innovations in the use of rich media and creative media planning – which include a Gold at the CIMTIG Travel Advertising Awards.

As early as 1997 Alain was working on direct response and online campaigns for companies such as American Express and AT&T at Wunderman Cato Johnson New York. His passion for online lead him to join Young & Rubicam’s digital division Brand Dialogue managing online media for Star Alliance and United Airlines. Alain’s media experience in Santiago, London and New York have strengthened his belief that media is most profitable when integrated with creative and adheres to simple consumer insights.

Alain, a native of Chile, is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management.

David Shiell

Formally trained in finance, David made the move to advertising as a media manager working across all channels including TV, press, radio, magazine, outdoor and online. With his analytical background and determination he moved swiftly through the ranks working across a large array of market sectors, clients and roles such as Media Group Head and Group Account Director. Frustrated by the lack of transparency and willingness of most agencies to see beyond simple marketing communications online, David was spurred on to launch an agency by the constant request of clients to help them with their entire digital marketing strategies, including their need to integrate not just their marketing but sales and operations departments within the interactive space. David is a graduate of Monash University, Australia where he received a Bachelor of Business.

Paul Burani

Always a believer in the analytical foundation of marketing, Paul was trained in traditional research-driven brand development at The NPD Group, developing accounts for CPG clients including Kraft and Nestle.  After completing the Copenhagen Business School’s Innovation and Business Development program, he turned to digital media and founded Clicksharp Marketing, a search engine marketing and social media strategy consultancy.  Clicksharp’s work spanned a variety of industries including consumer products, apparel, hospitality and non-profit, with clients such as LG Electronics, Paypal, VF Sportswear and the Soros Foundation.  In July of 2009, Clicksharp was acquired by Web Liquid.  Paul graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, and holds an MBA in International Marketing from Suffolk University in Boston.
