Web Liquid picks up Hilton account

22 July, 2004. New Media Age. London, United Kingdom. Web Liquid   picks up Hilton account.

Web Liquid, the digital agency set up last year by former itraffic directors David Shiell and Alain Portmann, has picked up the Hilton International account, two weeks after itraffic resigned it over a contract dispute (NMA 1 July).

Web Liquid will work with Hilton in the UK and Europe to help the hotel group meet its objective of driving 20 % of individual guests through its brand Web sites by 2007. Itraffic claimed Hilton’s alleged lack of commitment to interactive marketing and its decision to focus on retainer clients were the reasons for resigning the account.

However, Portmann said, “Hilton’s decision to launch localised Web sites in Japan, Scandinavia, Germany and the UK at quite a large cost shows that it’s fully committed to interactive.” He wouldn’t comment on whether Web Liquid has been signed on a retainer basis.
